New Sub9 From Rugged Suppressors — Engineered For Subguns

-

Rugged Suppressors has made a name for itself by having some of the quietests pistol suppressors on the market. Now, the company is turning its attention squarely to subguns and PCCs with the launch of the Sub9, a purpose-built 9mm suppressor engineered from the ground up for high-volume, hard-use platforms.

Sub9’s Purpose

This isn’t a pistol can pulling double duty. The Sub9 is designed specifically for subguns and pistol-caliber carbines, leveraging a coaxial chamber design to squeeze out maximum sound reduction while keeping the overall length impressively short. According to Rugged, it’s not just quiet, it’s quieter than their already well-regarded Obsidian9, and more than an inch shorter to boot.

“The Obsidian9 is one of the quietest 9mm suppressors on the market, but the Sub9 is even quieter while being over an inch shorter,” said Rugged Suppressors CEO Michael Derdziak.

Full-Auto Rated & More

Durability is where the Sub9 really separates itself. The suppressor is full-auto rated and built to handle the kind of firing schedules that would turn lesser cans into paperweights. That makes it especially relevant in today’s market, where forced-reset triggers and fast-cycling PCCs are increasingly common.

“With the rise of FRTs, shooters can fully take advantage of the durability Rugged Suppressors is known for,” said Rugged President Henry Graham.

Mounts

Mounting flexibility is another strong suit. The Sub9 is HUB compatible (1.375×24), opening the door to a wide range of direct-thread and quick-detach options, including Rugged’s Universal Mount system. That said, Rugged knows exactly where this suppressor lives, so the Sub9 ships standard with the company’s new 3-lug mounting system. Ideal for MP5-style platforms and modern PCCs.

Alongside the Sub9, Rugged also introduced the Rugged Universal 3-Lug Mount (RU3). Designed around HK-spec 9mm 3-lug barrels, the RU3 isn’t limited to the Sub9. It’s compatible with other HUB-threaded, 9mm-rated suppressors in Rugged’s lineup, including the Alaskan360.

Sub9 Caliber Rating

Caliber ratings cover 9mm and beyond, including 300 BLK subsonic (with an 8-inch barrel or longer), .357 Magnum, .38 Special, and 350 Legend. The Sub9 is finished in black high-temperature Cerakote, carries an MSRP of $950, and is backed by Rugged’s Unconditional Lifetime Warranty. Because if you’re going to run a can this hard, it better be built to last.

For shooters who live on subguns, PCCs, and high round counts, the Sub9 isn’t a compromise solution; it’s the right tool for the job.
