With news of Glock saying good-bye to most of it’s current line-up, we felt it fitting for the end of Gloctober to ask around folks in the office, what their favorite Glock was. In true fashion of anyone working in the Outdoor Industry, there was not one stock Glock. Here are some Bleecker Street Publications favorite “Glocks.”

My go to is the Glock 19 Roland Special, serrations and milling done by ATEiguns. Extras include; Magpul magazines, SureFire X300, Agency Arms Trigger, Trijicon RMR and stippling done by Great Lakes Custom Works.

It has to be my Glock 17L — the Robocop Gun! It features an Aimpoint H1 mounted on a Raven Concealment Baylor co-witness mount. It also features an AlG Defense Magazine well and Magpul magazine with an Agency Arms Trigger Upgrade.

It’s a Glock 17 that I bought stock in a parking lot. It’s running a Unity Tactical Atom side (discontinued) an Aimpoint H2, SSVI Tyr trigger, and a SureFire X300 Ultra. It’s my EDC now, but I also made USPSA Open C shooting minor power factor with it.

I carried this G19C for nearly a decade until I switched to a G43X recently, and made the 19C now my general purpose handgun. It was the first pistol I really put efforts into — DIY stippling and undercut, a trigger overhaul, etc. And it’s still one of my favorites. The photos show how I used to carry it. It now has a Radiant Ramjet and SureFire X300 Turbo.

I was lucky enough to get my Glock 19 Gen 5 in 2020 when they were sold out everywhere and hard to find. I prefer the 19 because the frame fits my hands perfectly and makes it just a little easier to conceal when carrying. I wanted something I hadn’t seen often with mine so I mounted my Holosun 507c with the Balor RMRG9 mount.

I am a big fan of my ZEV OZ9c Elite Hypercomp (only the full-size is still available). It is super fast and flat shooting, just a pure joy to shoot. A bit of a warning, some indoor ranges do not appreciate the comp barrel, especially if they have tiled ceilings. Otherwise just an amazing pistol to carry and shoot.

Truth be told, I have never been a Glock guy or an anti-Glock guy. I never really cared one way or the other. But there is no denying that they are a solid platform that runs hard. With that said, I have always thought they were flat-out ugly. I said what I said. Not that looks affect performance, but I am not duty-bound, so I don’t have to accept an ugly gun. Fortunately, there are other options—like building my own.

So, that’s what I did. I built what I call my Not-a-Glock G17 Gen 3. And in the interest of science, I did it without any Glock parts. Granted, it might not make a suitable hammer alternative, but it runs like a scalded dog, and that is good enough for me.

Technologies. After years of making high-end Glock parts, ZEV Technologies decided to build their own. The result was the OZ9. While there have been subsequent variations on the original gun, the classic OZ9 remains one of my favorites. It retains the reliability and function of our grocery-getter Glock but adds significant upgrades like a ZEV Trigger and internals. Zev also started a trend by making the fire control group removable, thus allowing you to change frames.

The OZ9 is also modular. The internal steel receiver allows for an interchangeable grip, and all other parts are fully compatible with Glock and ZEV components. ZEV also modified the grip angle. With that, the OZ9 has the accuracy, control, and balance of a 1911, the reliability of a striker-fired pistol, and is fully modular, allowing for grip changes and compatibility with Glock and ZEV parts. With all of these factors in play, I have found the OZ to be a great constant companion.
