Waltz 9- A New 9mm Double Stack from Zermätt Arms

-

Zermätt Arms is stepping into new territory with its first semi-custom handgun. The company built its name on precision rifle actions, and now it plans to bring that same mindset to the pistol market with the Waltz 9.

Waltz 9- 9mm Precision

Zermätt brought David Petta of DCPrecision into the fold early in development. His original DC9 served as the starting point for the design. From there, Zermätt engineers went to work on a new platform. The goal was simple. Build a modern fighting pistol that competes with top-tier 2011, DS1911, and striker-fired handguns. The Waltz 9 represents that effort.

The pistol uses a short recoil system with a tilting barrel. Zermätt pairs that with a patent-pending roller locking block. The design aims to improve lockup consistency during cycling. A solid barrel to slide fit also plays a role. Both the frame and slide use 416R stainless steel. The barrel comes from Proof Research and also uses 416R stainless. Zermätt machines the grip module from 6061 aluminum. Shooters can swap grip panels to match their preference.

Grip Texture

Texture options support different roles. The ZA dimple pattern suits general use. A smooth surface with laser-cut grip tape targets competition shooters. Controls are configurable from the factory. Buyers can select standard or oversized magazine releases. Both right and left-handed options are available. The slide controls are ambidextrous.

The Waltz 9 feeds from Glock-pattern magazines, making getting extra mags a simple matter. Zermätt offers three trigger profiles. Shooters can choose short flat, medium curved, or long flat options. The pistol uses a containerized trigger pack. End users can install replacement parts without factory support. Optics mounting uses a proprietary 7075 aluminum plate system. Plates support RMR, SRO, Delta Point Pro, and ACRO footprints. Backup iron sights can be mounted forward or rearward of the optic.

Two magwell options are available. A standard 6061 aluminum magwell suits general use. An oversized version targets competition roles. Barrel choices reflect that same split. Buyers can choose a USPSA Limited Optics legal barrel. A compensated option is also available for performance use. The frame includes a single accessory rail slot for lights or lasers.

Zermätt Arms expects the Waltz 9 to ship in late 2026. Pricing starts at $4900. For a company known for bolt gun precision, this marks a notable shift. The Waltz 9 will test how well that reputation carries into handguns.
