Some commemorative guns spend their lives behind glass, admired from a distance and only occasionally dusted off. The new Auto-Ordnance “Land of the Free” 1911 wasn’t built for that fate. Sure, it’s packed with enough patriotic engraving to make Uncle Sam nod in approval, but underneath all that custom artwork is still a full-featured .45 ACP 1911 ready to hit the range.
To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Auto-Ordnance partnered with the custom artisans at Koted Arms to create a special edition pistol honoring two and a half centuries of American freedom. Built on the company’s stainless steel 1911 platform, the “Land of the Free” combines modern enhancements with a healthy dose of red, white, and steel.
“Land Of the Free” Patriotic Details
The commemorative treatment starts with a handsome two-tone finish and continues with custom engraving across nearly every visible surface.

The left side of the slide prominently features the words “LAND OF THE FREE” surrounding a 250th anniversary emblem, accented by contrasting dark slide serrations. Matching the theme, the left grip panel showcases a bald eagle soaring over a banner marked “1776,” backed by an American flag motif complete with stars and stripes.
Flip the pistol over, and the patriotic theme continues. The right side of the slide bears the phrase “HOME OF THE BRAVE” surrounding the anniversary emblem, while the opposite grip panel completes the timeline with “2026” beneath another eagle design.

It’s an unmistakably American presentation that celebrates the nation’s semiquincentennial without looking like someone simply dipped a 1911 in red, white, and blue paint.
Modern Features
While the exterior grabs attention, the pistol underneath is based on Auto-Ordnance’s upgraded stainless 1911 platform rather than a bare-bones GI clone.
